Research Institute on
Addictions - RIA is a national leader in
alcohol and substance abuse prevention, treatment, and policy research.
The site includes information on projects, documents and research
findings, which involve studies in alcoholism, substance abuse,
and related issues such as crime and violence. The Institute also
offers addiction treatment services through its Clinical Research
Center (CRC).

Substance Abuse and Mental
Health Services Administration - SAMHSA's mission within
the Nation's health system is to improve the quality and availability of prevention,
treatment, and rehabilitation services in order to reduce illness, death, disability,
and cost to society resulting from substance abuse and mental illnesses. There
are several links at this site.
The Substance
Abuse and Mental Health Data Archive (SAMHDA) - is an
initiative of the Office of Applied Studies at the Substance Abuse and Mental
Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) of the United States Department of Health
and Human Services. The goal of the archive is to provide ready access to substance
abuse and mental health research data and to promote the sharing of these data.
U.S. Information Agency
- United States Information Service web site provides many

Virtual Clearinghouse
on Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs - This site is a
collaborative effort of several organizations. It includes a calendar of events
and text documents encompassing policy development, prevention, treatment and
research.

Addictions - A web index of resources.
World Health
Organization, Programme on Substance Abuse - PSA was
established in 1990 to minimize the health problems associated with the use
of drugs and alcohol. In 1994, the Tobacco or Health Programme was incorporated
into PSA. PSA is responsible for setting technical and policy norms with regard
to the prevention, management and reduction of the health and social effects
of substance abuse.
