American Society of Addiction Medicine - The nation's medical society dedicated to educating physicians and improving the treatment of individuals suffering from alcoholism or other addictions

The Argus Clearinghouse - The University of Michigan's University Library and the School of Information and Library Studies provides this listing of Internet resources on a variety of subjects. Formerly known as the Clearinghouse for Subject-Oriented Internet Resource Guides.

Association for Medical Education and Research in Substance Abuse (AMERSA) - Contains "Substance Abuse" a peer-reviewed journal that serves as the official publication of AMERSA.

Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse(CCSA) - An extremely comprehensive list of links to other web pages related to drug policy, treatment, and essentially any other drug related topics.

Center for Substance Abuse Research (CESAR) - The Center for Substance Abuse Research (CESAR) is a research center within the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, University of Maryland College Park.

Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) - Part of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Department of Labor Substance Abuse Website- Provides information on workplace substance abuse. It also provides a link to SAID, the Substance Abuse Information Database. SAID contains abstracts, extensive summaries, and in some cases the full text of books, pamphlets, and training manuals. It also lists educational aids such as videos and posters.

Healthfinder - Consumer health information resources with links to 550+ websites, including: government resources, online documents, issues of concern, databases and search engines by topic and agency.

Kennedy School Online Political Information Network- Provided by the JFK School of Government, this site brings together a broad range of Internet-based information by and about individual states, local governments, and related organizations.

The National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors(NASADAD) - Link to public policy updates, conference listings, a featured website of the month, and more. NASADAD's basic purpose is to foster and support the development of effective alcohol and other drug abuse prevention and treatment programs throughout every State.

National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University (CASA) - Includes information on the cost, impact, prevention and treatment, plus CASA news releases.

National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information - Features "Prevention Online" with information on research and statistics, new publications, campaigns, press releases, searchable databases and a conference calendar.

National Families in Action - A drug education and community mobilization center that helps parents prevent substance abuse in their families and communities and co-sponsors the Addiction Studies Program for Journalists with Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

National Library of Medicine - Provides a searchable index.

National Opinion Research Center - NORC is a non-profit corporation that conducts survey research in the public interest. Their areas of research currently include: Drugs and alcohol; Epidemiology and public health; Health services, and more.

National Technology Transfer Center (NTTC) - Index to US government information sources.

RAND Drug Policy Research Center - A subject index and abstracts of all DPRC publications are available at this site. DPRC's newsletter is also featured.

Research Institute on Addictions - RIA is a national leader in alcohol and substance abuse prevention, treatment, and policy research. The site includes information on projects, documents and research findings, which involve studies in alcoholism, substance abuse, and related issues such as crime and violence. The Institute also offers addiction treatment services through its Clinical Research Center (CRC).

Santa Barbara Alcohol and Drug Program - An extremely detailed web site which includes links to other drug treatment program pages, legal resources and prevention techniques.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration - SAMHSA's mission within the Nation's health system is to improve the quality and availability of prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation services in order to reduce illness, death, disability, and cost to society resulting from substance abuse and mental illnesses. There are several links at this site.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Data Archive (SAMHDA) - is an initiative of the Office of Applied Studies at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. The goal of the archive is to provide ready access to substance abuse and mental health research data and to promote the sharing of these data.

U.S. Information Agency - United States Information Service web site provides many links to other sites and documents about current policies on substance abuse and recent statistics.

Virtual Clearinghouse on Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs - This site is a collaborative effort of several organizations. It includes a calendar of events and text documents encompassing policy development, prevention, treatment and research.

Web of Addictions - A web index of resources.

World Health Organization, Programme on Substance Abuse - PSA was established in 1990 to minimize the health problems associated with the use of drugs and alcohol. In 1994, the Tobacco or Health Programme was incorporated into PSA.
